Good Pitch Texas 2020 Extended Deadline, Sat. Feb. 29

The Pirates of Penzance Returns to UTA

The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Theatre Company in association with UTA’s Department of Music proudly presents THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE with book and lyrics by Sir William S. Gilbert and music by Sir Arthur Sullivan. THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE follows young Frederic who has turned 21 and thus completed his apprenticeship to a band of kindhearted pirates. He falls for Mabel, the lovely daughter of law-enforcer Major-General Stanley, only to learn that his birthday falls on February 29, which means through a leap year loophole he is technically still a pirate. It’s a hilarious farce with sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, and an eccentric Major-General.

THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE is presented in the UTA Mainstage Theatre (Fine Arts Building, North Section, Room 174) located at 502 South Cooper Street on the UTA campus. Performances are February 27, 28, & 29, 2020 at 7:30 pm, and March 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $12 for the general public and $10 for students/senior citizens/UTA faculty & staff. Groups of 10 or more can use the code PPGRP for $10 tickets. For tickets please call 817-272-9595 or visit UTAtickets.com. For further information, please visit the UTA Department of Theatre Arts website.
