This exhibit, curated by Arlington Museum of Art's Executive Director Chris Hightower, celebrates the career of Fort Worth's own Bruce Wood (1961-2014); founder, director, and choreographer of the Bruce Wood Dance Company (BWDC) and the Bruce Wood Dance Project (BWDP). "Bruce created over 80 compositions that reshaped the world of modern dance," said Hightower. "Through his work he sought to bring innovative and unconventional productions that inspired and challenged his audiences. This exhibit will explore Wood's contributions to the world of dance, the cultural arts, and the communities he grew up in."
When you visit AMA, you will see pieces from performances of the BWDC and the BWDP including posters, playbills, programs, costumes, props, video pieces from rehearsals and performances, photographs and other ephemera.
The exhibit will run January 10 through February 15, 2015 with a preview and opening reception for honored guests, sponsors, and members on January 9, 2015 7-9 p.m. (Sign up or renew your membership that night and join in the exclusive live presentations of some of Bruce's compositions during the reception.)
