Shop Local, Shop Handmade at the Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience

The Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience will be November 7th & 8th at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. This free indoor event provides shoppers with the unique opportunity to keep their home decor, fashion, and gift giving purchases on point by providing stylish, original items created by over 100 independent artists, crafters, designers, & food makers.

As this event's following continues to grow each year, so does the competition among vendors of quality handmade crafts and artisans for the juried spaces at this show. One look and you'll be hooked! This season's market will welcome back familiar favorites along with a host of new handmade tastemakers sure to make you the standout star of this year's holiday gift exchange! Many vendors accept debit & credit cards, but it’s best to bring plenty of cash to make purchases.

The event will also feature a charitable raffle with all proceeds benefiting The Humane Society of North Texas and Toys for Tots. Each vendor, sponsor & other generous business owners have donated high-quality raffle prizes to be given away throughout the event. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each and the first 75 attendees each day to purchase ten or more tickets will receive a Funky Finds shopping tote filled with tons of funky products, coupons & more!

The Humane Society will be facilitating on-site pet adoptions and the United States Marine Corps will be accepting donations. To date, Funky Finds has raised over $25,000.00 for local charities and over 100 animals have found a forever home at Funky Finds events! Santa Claus will also be in attendance! Children AND pets are welcome to snap a pic with Santa with a $5+ donation to the charities.

Funky Finds provides area residents with the opportunity to support a large number of local independent business owners & charitable organizations, as well as the chance to purchase unique items that are uniquely hand-crafted. This is a wonderful opportunity to support the local economy, local arts community, and purchase one-of-a-kind holiday gifts! Expanded Cinema IV – Sunday, Oct. 25 at 8 pm


Expanded Cinema is a program of video art works wrapping the exterior of the Dallas Omni Hotel with audio simulcast by 91.7 KXT. This year’s edition, curated by Justine Ludwig, Director of Exhibitions/Senior Curator at Dallas Contemporary, will consist of works by artists from across the country addressing the inter-relationship of memory and place. Artists include Andrea Sisson, Andrew Scott, Jeff Gibbons, Gregory Ruppe, Jordan Tate, Wyatt Niehaus, Chris Collins, Joey Versoza, Michael Morris, Rick Silva, Darryl Laster, Pierre Krause, and Kris Pierce.

Each piece has been specifically designed for display on the large exterior LEDs on the Omni Hotel. Expanded Cinema, first presented in 2012, was named the number one art event in Dallas by several local news publications and attracted media attention worldwide. This year, Expanded Cinema will close VideoFest in the week after the festival on Sunday, Oct 25 at 8 pm. This unique public art project has already added cultural prestige to the City of Dallas.

Arlington Symphoy to Begin its 2015-2016 Season

Join Symphony Arlington on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7:30pm at the Arlington Music Hall as they kick off their 2015-2016 Season, Symphonic Treasures! Symphony Arlington will be performing Schumann’s Symphony No. 4 in D Minor and Auber’s Overture to The Crown Diamonds. This performance will feature the return of world renowned pianist, Jan Jiracek performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor.

Ticket information is available on their website and the box office opens at 6:30pm. There will be a little something extra for attendees at this concert. Photographic art from EclecticDesignChoices and jewelry from Trish and Juan's Jewelry will be on display and available for purchase before the concert and during intermission.

Dallas VideoFest Begins October 12, 2015

Dallas VideoFest once again has a great line up of films. This year, they are screening over 100 videos from national and international directors, including narrative and documentary features, shorts, animation, and experimental videos.
