The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Theatre Company presents RAGTIME, written by the award-winning composer/lyricist team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, noted playwright Terrence McNally, and based on E.L. Doctorow’s distinguished novel. RAGTIME was the winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Score, Book and Orchestrations.
RAGTIME is set at the dawn of a new century in New York, everything is changing... and anything is possible. Three distinctly American tales are woven together – that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant, and a daring young Harlem musician – united by their courage, compassion, and belief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history’s timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America.
RAGTIME is presented in the UT Arlington Mainstage Theatre (Fine Arts Building, North Section, Room 174) located at 502 South Cooper Street on the UTA campus. Performances of RAGTIME are November 13, 14, 15, 16 at 7:30 pm, and November 17 at 2:00 pm 2019. Tickets are $12 for the general public and $10 for students/senior citizens/UTA faculty & staff. Groups of 10 or more can use the code RAGGRP for $10 tickets. For tickets please call 817-272-9595 or visit UTAtickets.com.
