2014 FWADA Fall Gallery Night

The Fort Worth Art Dealer’s Association (FWADA) invites you to take in the visual arts and the community’s unique cultural richness during Fall Gallery Night, September 6, 2014. Most participants are open from noon to nine. Take a stroll through participating galleries, museums, retail businesses, and area restaurants. Enjoy the many artists featured during this community event.

Two adjacent venues in Fort Worth with mostly nature themed art on display are the BRIT (Botanical Research Institute of Texas) and the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.

Imprinting the West Exhibit to Open September 6, 2014

The Arlington Museum of Art will host an exhibit of the Old American West. It will run from September 6th through October 19th. A preview of the exhibition and opening reception for exhibit sponsors and museum members will be held on Sept. 5, 2014 from 7 – 9pm.

The exhibit was curated by Dr. Randall Griffey, the Associate Curator of Modern American Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and features 48 works from renowned artists such as Frederic Remington, George Catlin, John James Audubon and Albert Bierstadt. Audubon was known for his detailed images of American Birds, Albert Bierstadt was known for his grand landscapes, while Remington and Catlin were known for their images of the people of the West.

The exhibit will consist of hand colored engravings and lithographs that played an important role in the dissemination of knowledge and understanding about the West and those who inhabited it after Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory in 1803. Artists often accompanied governmental geographical surveyors of the West to capture imagery with an international or an eastern United States audience in mind, and it both drew from and promoted fantasies about Native Americans and the West as much as it documented reality.

Timeless Concerts Presents - An Evening in Italy

Join Timeless Concerts for a concert and dance on Sat., Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. at the Arlington Museum of Art.

Put on your Gucci and come hear Martucci! Giuseppe Martucci composed music at a time when operas overshadowed instrumental music. His second symphony has been called "the beginning of the rebirth of non-operatic Italian music." We will perform his trio #1, and we know our operatic tenor Don O’Neal LeBlanc will enchant you with his stunning arias of Puccini, Mascagni and other audience favorites.

Concert musicians are pianist Heejung Kang, cellist Karen Maddox Smith, and violinist LeeAnne Chenoweth, founder and artistic director of Timeless Concerts.
Reserve your seat for a passionate evening of great music by Martucci and conversation with other music lovers. After the concert, dance to music from the big band era to musicals or jazz by pianist/vocalist Steve Stroud. Enjoy complimentary desserts, fruit and cheese, water, soft drinks and bring your favorite wine.

Tickets are $29 for general admission, $25 for seniors (60+), and $15 for college students. Youth 11-18 are free with a paying adult. Purchase your reservations online or call 817-303-4189. Ansel Adams Lecture Series

Tonight, Wednesday, July 16, begins the Arlington Museum of Art's lecture series in conjunction with their current exhibit, Ansel Adams. Executive Director Chris Hightower will introduce a video lecture by former Adams assistant Andrea Stillman, and then conduct an open forum discussion about Adams.

Tonight's lecture as well as the remaining ones will be held at the Arlington Museum of Art at 6:30p.m. The lectures are open to the public, however seating will be limited, so arrive early for a good seat.
