Virtual Dance Event - At the Edge of Reality

AT THE EDGE OF REALITY is a virtual dance event collaboratively created by dance faculty and student choreographers. Inspiration is drawn from folklore, urban legends, and the more unsettling sides of human nature. Each dance work is created, performed, and filmed in a variety of settings to emphasize our unique connections to place and environment.

UTA Theatre Arts Students Collaborate with Broadway Artists to Amplify the Voices of Tomorrow by Empowering Them Today - Virtual World Premiere October 23-25

The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Theatre Company presents MOVING FORWARD: A Devised New Work, an exciting new musical theatre piece created in a collaboration between Broadway guest artists and students from the Theatre Arts and Dance department. The show was created and rehearsed virtually over the course of three weeks. Written by the cast, Moving Forward features text and music that reflect the students’ thoughts, concerns, and feelings about witnessing a social movement during a global pandemic.

Maverick Dance Company presents VIA DANCE, a collection of new, entertaining, and progressive dance works running December 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2019. The concert title, VIA DANCE, is based on a perspective that, through dance, we can communicate what is often challenging to put into words and that dance can simultaneously speak many languages and connect us on a visceral level. Faculty choreographers Artistic Director Amanda Jackson and Associate Artistic Director Whitney Coleman Talbot are joined by student choreographers: Taylor Anderson, Valerie Arruda, Yesenia Barrera, Darcy Doyle, Emily Finley, Bradley Kelm, Megan Medina, and Rachel Nabarrete. VIA DANCE includes a variety of dance styles.

VIA DANCE is presented in the UTA Mainstage Theatre (Fine Arts Building, North Section, Room 174) located at 502 South Cooper Street on the UTA campus. VIA DANCE includes a variety dance styles including modern, dance theatre, tap, hip-hop, musical theatre jazz, circus acts, and dance film.
