Mansfield Wind Symphony Concert

William Owens conducts the Mansfield Wind Symphony in a free concert, open to the public, at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Their winter concert, "Blue and Green Music", will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Mansfield, TX.

Timeless Concerts: Valentine Concert & Dance 2014

The Valentine Special by Timeless Concerts is their most popular event. Treat your sweetheart to a romantic evening out on Saturday, February 15, starting at 8:00 pm at the Arlington Museum of Art.

Timeless Concerts will be playing their spicey Piazzolla tangos, most romantic songs of Broadway, and a few surprises and previews of future concerts. Enjoy the most beautiful music of all time...timeless! Their post-concert band, the Steve Stroud Trio, will be back to play your favorites for dancing!

The 8:00 pm concert at the Arlington Museum of Art will be followed by a dessert buffet. Ticket prices: $50 general, $40 seniors. Private table for 2, $115. Learn Something New with Second Saturday Workshops at AMA

Indulge your creative side at Second Saturday Workshops. The Arlington Museum of Art presents art workshops for adults on the second Saturday of every month.

This month on February 8th you can learn about costume making. This class ties in nicely with their current exhibit, Artists in Motion. For more information about signing up for this workshop or to see what is coming up later this year, check out the museum's website.

The Arlington Museum of Art hosts "Artists in Motion" exhibit with Dance Theatre Arlington

Arlington, TX – The Arlington Museum of Art is proud to host the "Artists in Motion" exhibit highlighting the grace and beauty of dance and other stage performers. The exhibit features professional costumes on loan from Texas Ballet Theater and Dance Theatre Arlington, as well as paintings from. The exhibit runs from January 11, 2014 through February 16, 2014. The opening reception for sponsors and members will be Friday, January 10, 2014 7-9 p.m.

Several paintings, pastels, sketches and studies by locally based artist Donray, a Houston-born artist who worked and studied in New York City, will be featured. Donray’s unique style of painting emphasizes color and motion which perfectly balances the exhibit. Skilled in various media and techniques, Donray has exhibited in New York City, Washington, D.C., Houston, London and Dallas.

Accompanying the two dimensional work will be dramatic pieces from well-known ballet and musical theater productions. North Texas’ award winning costume designer Ric Leal, whose production credits include Dallas Theatre Center and Bass Performance Hall, is providing intricately detailed pieces previously featured in acclaimed stage productions throughout North Texas. Three traditional tutus designed by Texas Ballet Theater’s wardrobe manager Masako Parshall will anchor the exhibit, in addition to pieces she created for other TBT productions.

“This exhibit examines what captivates us about dance, grace and majesty, as well providing a glimpse into the power and message conveyed by stage performers. We are proud to host this collaborative exhibit with our partners Texas Ballet Theater, Dance Theatre Arlington, costume designers Ric Leal and Masako Parshall and the art of Donray,” said Chris Hightower, Executive Director of the Arlington Museum of Art. The museum will also offer a number of programs, artist workshops and lectures in addition to the exhibit that will enhance the visitors’ experience.

Happy Holidays Gift Market and More

Stroll through the festive trees and Santa art at the Arlington Museum of Art, 201 West Main Street, and shop from local artisans on three floors of the museum this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7-8 at the Happy Holidays Gift Market. In addition to the 15 local artisans' work that can be found in the Happy Holidays Gift Store on the mezzanine level of the museum, you will find almost 30 additional artisans and their creations and collections for this market weekend. Come out and meet the artists in person and ask about their work. Many great gifts can be found for a variety of people on your list. There will be art for your walls, jewelry, woodwork, metal sculptures, handmade soaps and much more.

American illustrator Tom Newsom is expected to be at the museum this weekend to sign autographs. Some of his Santa art (prints for your wall or on puzzles and cards) will also be available for sale. When holiday music is not playing over the intercom, live entertainment will also be part of the Festival of Trees this weekend. All of this is at the Arlington Museum of Art from 10am-5pm Saturday, Dec. 7 and 1-5pm Sunday, Dec. 8. The Arlington Museum of Art and hence the Happy Holidays Gift Market will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 7 due to hazardous travel conditions. Dec. 7 UPDATE: While it is unknown at this point whether the museum will open at 1 pm on Sunday, Dec. 8, due to the logistics of setting up the market and the forecast of when weather conditions are likely to improve, the second day, Dec. 8, of the Happy Holidays Gift Market has been cancelled as well.

While you are in Downtown Arlington on Saturday you can also watch holiday entertainment at the Levitt Pavilion in the afternoon and the Holiday Lights Parade which starts at 6pm.
